Escaped Love

It was the day I met him;

His light shone upon my face.

In all my life, I haven’t seen so much grace.

Within my mind was a desolate space,

Breathless, sinking into a land without escape.

…………………………………………………………………..

For it was the day I met him;

I saw eyes made of clouds,

Soft and gentle, I wondered how.

If only my thoughts were spoken aloud

It would tell him the reasons for my racing heart.

…………………………………………………………………….

Oh, it was the day I met him;

I heard a voice, a mellifluous tone – capturing my soul,

Sending butterflies beyond control.

I shifted, I twisted and lost myself to a mental stroll;

A place where it was just us – surrendering to lust.

…………………………………………………………………………

It was the day I met him;

A story was unfolding that was not yet written.

My heart shivered and became smitten

At the thought of what was hidden;

A human so perfect – a body made of gold.

………………………………………………………………

It was the day after I met him;

His eyes looked at me the same way

For I knew I was all he thought about that day

His glance was rare – not intimidating I would say;

More so, calm and radiating like the morning sun.

……………………………………………………………

For it was days after I met him;

Our eyes would still meet,

In a short romance, we would greet,

And my day would be complete.

In another life, maybe, in another life, we could be.

  1. You are expressing a beautifully heartfelt moment between two people. The sadness at the end is especially poignant as a result. I wanted the two people to continue with the earliest intimations of love that they have experienced, but apparently that cannot happen in this lifetime; perhaps in another life, but not this one. So much of love is the longing when the opportunity (if indeed there ever had been an opportunity) has passed.
